The Denver Nuggets' Injury Woes Continue
In a thrilling double-overtime battle against the New York Knicks, the Nuggets not only walked away with a loss but also faced yet another injury setback. This time, it's forward Peyton Watson who has succumbed to a hamstring injury, leaving the team with yet another key player on the sidelines.
But here's where it gets controversial... While the game itself was an entertaining spectacle, the aftermath has left the Nuggets' coaching staff and players feeling deflated. Coach David Adelman expressed his concern, stating, "It's deflating when you keep seeing people go down around you when you're trying to build towards something."
Watson's injury comes at a time when he was in top form, consistently starting in place of Aaron Gordon, who himself has been dealing with a hamstring issue. Since the start of 2026, Watson has been on a roll, averaging impressive stats for the team. However, the Nuggets have been plagued by injuries throughout the season, with three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, starting guard Christian Braun, backup center Jonas Valanciunas, and now Watson, all facing extended absences.
And this is the part most people miss... The Nuggets' All-Stars, Jokic and Jamal Murray, have been carrying a heavy load, with Murray putting up 39 points and Jokic achieving a 30-point triple-double in this game. With Watson's injury, the team will need to adjust their lineup and rotation yet again, and perhaps most importantly, take a much-needed break.
"It's just the next iteration," Adelman said, highlighting the team's resilience in the face of adversity. But the question remains: Can the Nuggets bounce back and find a way to overcome these injury challenges?
What do you think? Should the Nuggets focus on resting their key players or finding new strategies to adapt to these setbacks? Let's discuss in the comments!
